The House Select Committee on the Jan. 6th attacks on the U.S. Capitol Thursday declared a mid-summer’s break on its initial public presentation of the evidence it has gathered to try to tie former President Donald J. Trump’s efforts to cling to power with the breach of the Capitol by more than 2,000 pro-Trump supporters on the day Joseph R. Biden’s election was to be finally certified.

The committee’s work is not done, its leaders said from a primetime platform Thursday night. But they don’t plan to have any more public presentations of their findings until at least September.
